| How set XP so deleting from USB flash drv goes into recycle bin? Is it possible to change one of the XP settings or registry so that if I delete a file from a USB flash drive it will go into the recycle bin instead of just being permanently deleted? I'd like some way to retrieve mistakenly deleted files. (The recycle bin could be on C or the USB flash card if that matters.) I like to operate off the USB flash card on various different computers so this would be helpful to be able to get the deleted files to go into the recycle bin. (Obviously one should back up ones files so I do know that.) Thanks, Chet |

Some removable drives come with utilities (e.g., Zip Tools) which allow you to set up a Recycle Bin by fooling Windows into thinking the drive is actually a fixed disk. Consult your drive's documentation to find out if this is an option. -- Terry ***Reply Note*** Anti-spam measures are included in my email address. Here is one that works well, but it is not free. http://www.executive.com/undelete/undelete.asp -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell] |

| Re: How set XP so deleting from USB flash drv goes into recycle bin? Funny that, I'm looking for the exact opposite. My 1GB USB flash drive gets identified as a hard drive, and every XP machine I hook it up to insists on recreating a Recycled folder as well as System Volume Information (system restore crap that is useless for a flash drive). |
