| can a file be added to a folder while the folder is hidden? hi all, i am having a product developed that syncs a folder on the web with folders on a local computer. all works fine except one of the files i want to sync is in a hidden folder (the folder is not part of XP). is there anyway to make it possible to add files to hidden folders? The folder is part of Adobe Acrobat. Does this change anything? |

Does this change anything? I can't see that being hidden has anything to do with whether files can be added or not. The permissions determine whether a process can write to a folder or not. Jim |

| Re: can a file be added to a folder while the folder is hidden? Hi Jim, thanks for the response. Could you plz clarify "permissions"? Does this mean the permissions of the person logged into XP? For example if the person was an Admin user would that allow them to add a file to a hidden folder? If so, is there any special that has to be done or just define the path to the hidden file? thx "Jim" wrote: > > "wayne glover" <wayne glover@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:70DD93D2-B38F-476B-82CA-B7CD419E0969@microsoft.com... > > hi all, i am having a product developed that syncs a folder on the web > > with > > folders on a local computer. all works fine except one of the files i > > want > > to sync is in a hidden folder (the folder is not part of XP). is there > > anyway to make it possible to add files to hidden folders? > > > > The folder is part of Adobe Acrobat. The permissions define what the file system will allow users or classes of users can do. A member of the administrators group can take control of a folder whether it is hidden or nor. All that "hidden" realy accomplishes is to make life more difficult for normal users and to annoy administrators. To see hidden files, you need to check the box labeled "view hidden files and folders" in the folder options tab.
