| Internet History Hi, I have went to Control Panel and cleaned out my cookies and deleted my files and cleared History. But when I log back on and go to my address bar and type in a "old" (I deleted everything) it still fills it in as if I had just went to that site. I was wondering if there is somewhere else I need to go to get in out of there. Plus when I go to the history folder and type that web site in it shows up also? Thank you |

| Re: Internet History You need to disable "autocomplete" Start\Control Panel\Internet Options\Content\Autocomplete. Uncheck specific types of automplete history. And to delete saved URLs or passwords click on the appropriate bar. CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) can do all the described chores for you, either in manual or automatic setting. http://www.ccleaner.com/ ---------------------------------- "cyabaker" <u33093@uwe> escribió en el mensaje news:7042fa8b3d96c@uwe... > Hi, I have went to Control Panel and cleaned out my cookies and deleted my > files and cleared History. | Re: Internet History Try disabling auto complete. Go to Internet Options click the Content tab and then click the Setting button in the auto-complete section. In the auto-complete window remove the tick mark from 'web addresses' You might also find it useful to remove the tick marks from the 'user name and password on forms' too. In many cases the web address are stored as MRU's (most recently used) in the registry. As a suggestion download CCleaner (better known as Crap Cleaner) from www.ccleaner.com Install it and then run it. Once it opens click the Run Cleaner button. This will clear out history, temp internet files, cookies, mru etc. I use it regularly. There is an 'issues' button which will edit the registry, this isn't as good as it could be so 'don't' use it. Just use the cleaner option. -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert Windows - Shell/User Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org The information in this mail/post is supplied "as is". | Re: Internet History The address Bar URL's are held in the registry in a key called typed URLs: If you want an easy way or managing them then use this utility: http://www.crouchie.net/downloads/ie_visited_sites.zip The harder way: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs If you click START Click RUN Type 'regedit' (without quotes) & click OK Navigate to the above registry key by expanding the '+' signs until you get to the TypedURLs key where you highlight it In the right pane delete all string values that start with 'url' Close the registry editor & re-launch Internet Explorer I hope this helps, -- Newbie Coder (It's just a name) "cyabaker" <u33093@uwe> wrote in message news:7042fa8b3d96c@uwe... > Hi, I have went to Control Panel and cleaned out my cookies and deleted my > files and cleared History. | Re: Internet History Newbie, I would much rather the origianl poster disable auto-complete and use CCleaner than him/her attempt any alterations to the registry. Your 'workaround' using the registry is indeed correct, but as we are not aware of the OP's competency regarding registry editing it is far better to use the simplest method rather than the hardest. I also wouldn't be downloading directly from a download link, especially when, from what i have seen, the home page of the website (if you can even call it a website) isn't all that informative or user friendly. With the exception of the contact page and WhoIs, every other link simply brings you back to where you started, a rather unimpressive home page. -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert Windows - Shell/User Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org The information in this mail/post is supplied "as is".
