AVG Free Edition requires reboot to update

I have AVG Free Edition on two machines.

On one when I update the virus definitions I do not have to reboot.

On the other a reboot is required.

Is there some Windows setting that make the reboot necessary?

Thanks in advance

Re: AVG Free Edition requires reboot to update

Active,

There is a registry key that is used to say that the machine needs to be
rebooted

Are these both XP machines or is one an old FAT32 system?

Is there just virus updates of engine updates too?

Awaiting your reply,

Re: AVG Free Edition requires reboot to update

There's a setting for this in Update Manager of AVG.

This is a question for AVG KB/forums.

Any advice is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.

Did you mean "or" rather than "of", if so:
just virus upgrades

I looked before posting and just looked again and can't find any such
setting.

I've looked for a NG containing the letters AVG and can't find one. Maybe my
ISP does not carry it.

Thanks for answering.

I have version 7.5.446 and can't find Update Manager anywhere on the Control
Center form or menu.

Thanks
