hi everybody,

i face a strange behavior and cannot solve it. I recently got a new
tft monitor (samsung 225bw) and wanted to use it together with my old
one (benq fp937). I have an asus en9750 gt graphics card under win xp
sp2.
Everything worked fine after the first boot with the new monitor - the
nvidia driver recognized a 2nd monitor and let me set it up (on with
1680x1050 and the other one with 1280x1024).
After the next reboot my resolution was set back to 640x480 and 4bit
colors (on both monitors) and only mirroring on both monitors.
Selecting the tab on the display properties it said:

"The currently selected graphics display driver can not be
used. It was written for a earlier version of windows.
The system has been started using the default VGA driver ... bla bla
bla"

I reinstalled the newest forceware driver - rebooted - and it worked
again, until the next reboot - same story. Everything set back to
640x480 and the same message on the display tab.
That's the cycle: i can use both monitors - as inteded - right after i
reinstalled the nvidia driver (and the necessary reboot) but it stops
working after an additional reboot.

By the way - something seems to have messed up my graphics driver
thing - because using only the old monitor now causes the same
behavior.

Pleas someone out there help me - i have absolutley no idea what
causes this behavior.

Hi again,

i found additional oddities in the device manager:
under monitors i have the benq and the samsung and 3 default monitors.
Could this be a symptom for anything that someone of you already
expierenced?

Please give me some thoughts - I have no idea what to do (and I
couldn't find anything in the internet yet)
