| Mass Mailings in Microsoft Outlook (NOT Outlook Express) 3:22 PM 4/3/2007 RE: Mass Mailings in Outlook (NOT Outlook Express) Once per month my group usually has a dinner meeting. I e-mail a notice so that each member gets a reminder. Since there are about 350 members, it is very impractical to send a notice to each member. What I do is this: 1. In the TO line: Me (a junk e-mail address that I made up). 2. In the BCC - blind carbon copy - line: ± 50 members (for seven messages). The reason I do not put all 350 for one message? Outlook can only handle a maximum of about 50. 3. In the body of the message: when, where, etc. The reason I do the mailing this way is that recipients of BCCs do not see the other members who receive the notice. They would see the other recipients if the recipients were in the TO or CC lines. Some, not all addresses are incorrect. Obviously those messages cannot be delivered and are returned to me: "Mail System Error - Returned Mail". Most of the return notices have one or more e-mail addresses indicated in them. However, some do not and just indicate my junk e-mail address. Is there a way to make all returned messages show members' e-mail addresses? Thank you, Barry Karas PS I'll put this message in the MS Word newsgroup also. |

It's best to post to a newsgroup for the program / issue in question. Neither Outlook nor Word are part of the XP OS. Post to an Outlook and/or Word newsgroup. Look under microsoft.public.outlook and microsoft.public.word for a list of the newsgroups for those programs. Also if you are going to post to more than one newsgroup do so by crossposting, that is sending the same message at one time to each newsgroup, not multiposting which is sending separate messages to each newsgroup. Multiposting is counter productive, results in duplication of effort, and folks in one newsgroup don't see the replies nor benefit from the replies in other newsgroups. You are using Outlook Express. Just put the different newsgroup addresses in the Newsgroups line separated by a semi-colon. I believe this has been explained to you in the past, no? -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell] |
