activation problems

I have a user who brought their computer to me because they can't activate
Windows XP. They try to do it via the net but it says it can't connect
(which I know 100% the connection is good). But it just logs them off.

Would rather not have to wast 1/2 my day waiting for MS to pick up the line.
Anyone have any ideas.

RE: activation problems

Chris,

You have wasted more time posting here than you would have spent on the
phone with MS. It takes 5-8 minutes activating by phone. You just enter the
code they give you and it will give you a pass code if it cannot verify you
will be sent straight to a tech and then you give them the first set of
numbers they verify and ask you a couple of questions and give you your pass
code. It's easy and quick. Good Luck,

Joe

Last time I did phone activation about a month ago it was 13 minutes from
start to finish, not quite half a day. You would have been done by now.

I hear that some police officers can be polite while they frisk you too.

How can you just accept being accused of being a pirate until you prove
otherwise regardless of how long it takes to be frisked?
