file folder in start menu won't open when I right click on "open"

I was having a fairly common problem, apparently, where I would go to start,
all programs and then any folder. When I right clicked on open, I would get
that "move to" box. Following the information in other threads I went to the
appropriate registry keys and deleted the items. See thread :
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...0-897bd310f464

Now that I followed all that, I go to the same file folder, right click
"open" and absolutely nothing happens. The start menu stays open, I don't get
any "move to" dialogue, nothing! I can't open any of those file folders in
my start menu. Please help

One of the third-party shell extensions in your system is blocking the "open" action somehow. See "Method 2" in this article (ignore the title)

Re: file folder in start menu won't open when I right click on "op

I was able to use the Shellexviewer successfully but one other thing is
happening and i don't know if its related to the shell extensions are the
reason. In the folder options control box, i've checked the box for opening
each folder in the same window but the folders keep opening in a new window
when i double click on them. this started happening at the same time as the
context menu item problem. what do you think?
