Remote Desktop - Can only logon remotely if local logon first

Hi,

Can anyone help?
I'm running remote desktop on a IBM PC with windows XP SP2.

After a reboot remote desktop logon won't work. I must firstly logon
locally to the desktop. After this remote logon
is possible but not before.
I'm not able to determine what is happening, can't find anything in
the event viewer?

Any ideas?

I suspect symantec firewall may be causing some kind of problem, but
tthis wouldn't explain why it
works after local logon is done.

One workaround i've used is to have the computer automatically logon a
user when it boots. But now on some pcs that i've done this too, when
i try to logon remotely i just get a black screen and no logon
prompt.

Any ideas much appreciated.

thanks,

Brian

You should post more details, e.g.
- The error message you see
- If you're on an external or internal network
- What happens if you boot with the firewall disabled
