| Automatic Updates, Windows Update, Microsoft Update Are Automatic Updates, Windows Update, Microsoft Update all the same thing? This particular PC has a start menu option for Microsoft Update. When I click it I get the download page but I need to find the 'area' where I can set the option to download but not install. Thanks, gtb |

Windows Updates will update only your Windows OS. Microsoft Updates will update any Microsoft Products (for instance: Office, Windows Defender, etc). Automatic updates will automatically use whichever is setup by default (in your case, it sounds like Microsoft Updates-a better choice) In order to set the option to download but not install is as follows: Start, Control Panel, Security Center, Automatic Updates, select radio button labled "Download updates for me, but let me chose when to install them" Have a good day |
