I read this articile because my Icons kept chanaging. The problem I have is
there is no "Max Cached Icons" value in my regestry. Can anyone tell me if I
am suppose to create it in registry?

(I am well aware of the dangers; I stomp around it all the time. :)) (I also
know what causes the problem, AOE 2 plus the expansion. When the game is
closed, the Icons change.)

Looks like you have to add it manually:

Using Registry Editor, add the Max Cached Icons string value with a value
data of 2000 to the following registry key, and then restart your computer:
"

Make a reg backup copy, just in case.
