all programmes

when I press start and want something like run, i have to carefully avoid the
all programmes option by going around it. if not I get all programmes, this
has only just started and I am shure there was a delay over all programmes to
stop this happening, any ideas.

Right-click the Start button, click Properties, Customize, Advanced tab,
deselect "Open subfolders when I pause on them with my mouse". It'll
then take an actual click to open All Programs.
