| Re: Registered Name Change Thank you, "Rock", the computer needing the change can't go online anymore and when I downloaded the file to a CD from a different PC, the PC I want to change does not recognize the file. To protect your personal information and data from any future users of average skills, you should, at the very least, format the hard drive. If you wish to do a more thorough job of protecting your personal data, WipeDrive (http://www.whitecanyon.com/wipedrive...hard-drive.php) meets U.S. DoD standards for securely cleaning surplus unclassified hard drives, and could be used before formatting and reinstalling the OS and applications. To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can use Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner and: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOrganization -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. -Bertrand Russell |

Hi Gerry If you double-click on "Registered Owner", or right-click it and choose Modify, a box will pop up in which you can change the name. Hope this helps :-) -- Nightowl |
