"HDA Audio bus driver is required" error

Hello,

I am loading XP Professional SP2 on my HP nc6320 notebook and trying to
install the drivers. I get an "HDA Audio bus driver is required and not
found" error when I tried to install the audio and modem drivers.

I've tried the latest drivers from HP's site. I got the hotfix for KB
#888111 from Microsoft. Nothing works. It appears the "MS UAA bus driver
for HDA" installed because I get to the Finished button. But when I try to
install the ADI SoundMax HD Audio driver I get the above error.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Gin

Gin,
I just received this error today. Since I didn't see any conflicts in
device manager, I re-started the computer and went into the CMOS
settings to see if the sound card was enabled or not. The sound card
was off. I just turned it on, re-booted, and re-tried the drivers.
That worked.

Hope this helps.
Dan
