| XP Slowing Down way too much I have a windows XP Pro SP2. When I got it it was running at amazing speeds with the most advanced chipsets around (At the time, and that was 2002) And average logon tome was under a minute. Now it is taking almost 10 minutes to logon. I only have a virus scanner as a startup program. |

Follow this by downloading an anti-spyware, anti-malware application such as Lavasoft Adaware, Spybot S&D, etc., and run a scan to eliminate any trojans, worms, etc., that might have accumulated. Once the hard drive has been cleared up of excess detritus, defrag it. It should be running smoother and relatively quicker after these operations. |

| Re: XP Slowing Down way too much It wouldn't do a bit of harm to cleanup your system while your at it. www.ccleaner.com and google for NTREGOPT and download it, to defrag (compress) your registry. Once you run these, reboot and then defrag as usual...
