| Simple Home Network I've connected my laptop (XP Home) to my PC (XP Pro) via ethernet cable. My PC is connected to my DSL modem via USB. Today I could not access the Shared Documents folder, where it had been working before. Simple file sharing is on. The Shared Documents folder comes up as read-only each time w/ no permissions to set. I get an error messages which reads: "\\OptiplexGX240 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Logon Failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer." The user names and passwords for each machine is identical. I'm stuck and at a loss. Please help. You may also respond to hmtktdh@sympatico.ca. Thanx. The Dr. is in... |

You can check/modify these settings here: Start / Run / gpedit.msc / Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Windows Settings / Security Settings / Local Policy / User Rights |

| Re: Simple Home Network It's happened again. This time, permissions include my name and administrators. My laptop can 'see' my office PC but can't access it. My office PC doesn't see my laptop at all. What else could be wrong?
