| Connection problems Hi I cannot connect to any Canadian Federal government sites such as http://www.canada.gc.ca/. This only happens at the federal government sites. All other web browsing is fine. I have tried firefox and IE with no luck. Both have been recently updated. I get the message "Firefox can't find the server at www.canada.gc.ca." I am running XP (recently updated). I have tried it with Norton Security disabled and Windows firewall turned off , no luck I have tried my bookmarks, typed in the web address and clicked on a google search link and it still does not connect. Oh yeah and my taxes are paid LOL Any help or direction would be deeply appreciated Thanks Peter |

| Re: Connection problems What type of Internet connection do you have ? and what type of Access Point hardware do you use ( Just modem or modem with a separate Router ). What DNS servers does your ISP use ? Primary & Secondary. Have you tried a TraceRT 198.103.238.30 from within a Cmd Prompt window. Also, from that Command Prompt type: >IPConfig /FlushDNS [Enter] "burly pete" <pbesharah@cyberus.ca> wrote in message news:1172088338.389269.79300@s48g2000cws.googlegro ups.com... > Hi > I cannot connect to any Canadian Federal government sites such as > http://www.canada.gc.ca/. | Re: Connection problems DNS ( Domain Name Service ) translates your URL into the IP address that the URL represents. Your problematic site's IP is 198.103.238.30. IPConfig/FlushDNS is a command that purges the stored DNS translations your computer has recently used. This forces the PC to send your next URL request for that site to your ISP's DNS servers. They translate the URL-to-IP and complete your request. Your problem could be any number of things, from Host table redirecting to Norton Internet Security. What happens if you open your browser and simply type in the address bar 198.103.238.30 and press Enter Doing it this way completely bypasses all DNS translation.
