| Urgent Disk Partition Problem - Need to remove a partition. I have an Acer laptop which is partitioned; I'm not sure if this is something to do with the factory install or if another technician did this to my mate’s laptop. I rebuilt the C: partition from factory install assuming this would clear both out and merge them to one. This is not the case. C: is now built and working fine and all sweet. Ideally I need to delete the other partition all together without any effect on the C: I do not want to do a factory install as this may get rid of the C: again as it gave me no option. If I cannot do that, need to safely delete all the files on this other drive and then reduce the size of this and move the storage over to the C: drive. What is the best way to do this? Get rid of the drive or reduce the size of this. Please provide as detailed instructions as possible. -- Thanks for your help! |

| RE: Urgent Disk Partition Problem - Need to remove a partition. Does the other drive/partition have a drive letter like "E" or "F"? Copy all the files to your C drive or a CD, if possible. Then you can go to: Start>Run>type DISKMGMT.MSC and press OK There you can delete the partition or whatever you want to do. Do not delete Disk 0 which is the Primary partition. You should see your C drive and other drives/partitions and your CD-Rom, etc. -- XP - WNP Today is the first day of the rest of your life. If you find this response helpful, rate it below. If so, then a later factory restore with the OEM installed drivers would not be possible. I.e. Delete after further investigation and with caution. If Windows is already installed you can not modify the C: drive size without 3rd party software. If you successfully delete the unwanted partition and wish to increase the C: drive size without third party software, you must start from scratch by deleting both partitions, recreating a new partition then install Windows. - this can be done by booting with a retail XP cd and some OEM cd's. Again, investigate before proceeding. ..winston |
