how to format without erasing windows ?

im having problems with my windows, it got very slow, i want to format the
hard drive, but i lost my windows xp cd, is any way to format a hard drive
without erasing windows xp ?

You could do a low level format, BUT it sounds like you will want to
re-install Windows anyways. Have you run through and done a system clean?
If not, I would recommend that. There are some programs that will make your
system DOG slow. Roxio Easy Media Creator 9, Music Match software, McAfee
AntiVirus. Check for Spywayre and such.. Clean out your temp directories
and defrag. Try that before you dump the whole computer.

By definition - format wipes everything from the drive being formatted.

isnt there any option to put the pc in 0, like when you buy it that doesnt
have any progam, just the windows and nothing else...

No, formatting will remove any references to the files/data on the volume

No, of course not. By definition, "formatting" entails wiping
*EVERYTHING* from the hard drive.
