SYSTEM LOCKS UP FOR NO APPARENT REASON

I'm running Windows XP. Recently my system has been locking up for no
apparent reason. I'll be doing something innocuous like reading email, or
reviewing a site on the internet when all of a sudden everything locks up.
Can't type, can't move the cursor, alt-cont-del doesn't do anything, pressing
the power-on/off button on the computer won't bring up the dialog box with
option to cancel or restart, etc. Have to shut off power and then re-start.

Only thing I've done recently is intall a wireless router. My desktop is
plugged into the router, and I have a lap top that connects wireless-ly. I'm
sharing a printer, which in connected to my desktop, with the lap top.

Any suggestions on diagnosing / fixing this problem?

RE: SYSTEM LOCKS UP FOR NO APPARENT REASON

You might check disk space on your hard disk in system info, and if it is low
(below 15-20%, say, run disk cleaner, remove excess temp files, and defrag
the hard disk. Something similar helped me with my 30gb xp machine with less
than 3 gb of free space.
