CD Drive Problems

I have a Compaq Presario 2108US Notebook with a GCC-4241N CD-RW/DVD Combo
Drive. I think the drive is a goner, but I could use a second opinion.

I am unable to read CD-R, Audio CD or DVD. The drive refuses to recognize
any disk at all. The drive itself does not seem to spin up, and it appears
that the laser arm does not move.

I am also receiving errors (or events) 7 ("The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a
bad block.") and 51 ("An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom0 during a
paging operation.") multiple times via Event Viewer, no matter how clean the
DVD or CD is. I am also getting errors (or events) 7035 and 7036 discussing
"The IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service service".

Any thoughts on what could be wrong? Or how to fix it?

Other info:
XP SP2
768 RAM
Latest Firmware

First impression was essentially correct. Replace the CD-RW/DVD drive.
