| Beep codes on boot up I have an HP Pavilion 7905 model. Its about 5 or so years old, running XP Pro. I turned on the computer today and got 4 single beeps. The monitor says its in Power Save Mode. Activate Using PC. I powered up again and got a different series of beeps. Wasn't expecting that so I don't remember the beeps. Tried power again and got no beeps, including the POST single beep. Monitor still says the same thing. I tried diferrent monitors, and different video cards with the same results. Is my motherboard done? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

| RE: Beep codes on boot up I forgot to mention the power led on the monitor and tower both go green to yellow after a minute or so. "Ogrish" wrote: > I have an HP Pavilion 7905 model. Also, try different (but compatible) RAM. |

To verify: remove/unplug *everything* except RAM and Video. If it still beeps, it's toast. |

Memory, motherboard, CPU, the point is it's in the hardware, not the OS, so you should post to a hardware group. -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell] |

That's what the beep codes are for - to identify which hardware device is failing. Why guess? -- Jim |
