hi my friend gave me a windows vista skin for my computer and when i
get to the login screen i click on my account but there is no "space"
to enter my password all it says is password and nothing else, so i
cant get into my computer. i tryed to re install xp but it just wont
boot from the cd. any ideas? thankx

In order to boot from the CD, you need to set the BIOS (set up) to boot
first from the CDROM. Usually, you tap F2 or Del right after the first
beep when rebooting the computer to get into the BIOS.

yeah ive tryed doing that but it still wont boot from cd and i ve
tryed my spare hdd with a fesh install of windows xp and it wont boot
from that it just freezes

Try a known working CDROM.

If your computer won't boot to the CDROM first, your problem is not the
XP disk but the CDROM.

You cannot boot WindowsXP with a Windows Vista skin for this will
replace some of your system boot files. One way to solve your problem (maybe)
is to go and buy an upgrade copy of Vista for about $99, and hope it works.
Anyone out here have any other suggestions?

If it won't boot from the CD (you did set the CD as the first device in the
boot order, right), the problems are not about the OS, so you should be
asking in a hardware newsgroup.
