| Disabing unwanted Office2007 updates in Windows update Office 2007 was "half" pre-installed on a Laptop I own. (Asking you to register/purchase when you attempt to use or open any file with a registered office extension). I uninstalled the product and spent hours cleaning up the registry as best I could removing remnants the uninstall left behind. The Laptop is fine now but every couple of days or so, The Windows update software asks me to install "recommended" updates to Office2007. I say "No" so not to revert to the undesired delivered behavior, not waste disk space, etc. Is there a way to turn off update notifications for Office 2007 and still receive the updates that are important to me? |

| Re: Disabing unwanted Office2007 updates in Windows update If MSUpdate is suggesting 2007 updates then obviously you failed to remove it completely. Assuming it was a Trial version did you also uninstall the Activation Assistant? Do you have MSO2003 w/2007 Compatibility Pack? If so, that may be what is trying to update. It seems that most MSO2007 updates also update the 2007CP. | RE: Disabing unwanted Office2007 updates in Windows update I want to thank DL, Terry, and PA Bear. I do not have or MSO2003 or MS Office viewers installed. I followed the instructions for manually Uninstallng Office2007 and Activation assistant http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/en-us It took several hours but if it eliminates those annoying messages, it will be worth it. There were many remenants that both the Office20007 uninstaller and I missed. If I get any other Office 2007 Update notifications, I'll reopen this thread |
