| Lost Start and Exit sounds One PC has recently lost its Windows Start and Exit sounds. Every other sound-associated event works fine. Went to Sound Devices and re-allocated all sounds. Created new sound scheme. Used other themes. Re-allocated different sounds to these events. Uninstalled hardware driver and reinstalled. Used tweaks to restore sound - as from Kelly's Korner. Used whatever little voodoo spells I knew (just kidding). Nothing worked. Every single audio feature works. Except the start and exit (or log-on and log-off) sounds. Windows XP Pro SP3. All updates installed. Regards and TIA. Avatar ------- |

I did give it a try - actually I already have the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack v5.4.4 installed. It does not have any setting for system default sounds though! :-) Regards and thanks. If you play the individual Start Windows and Exit Windows sounds from Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices do the sounds work? Have those sounds ever worked? |

If you play the individual Start Windows and Exit Windows sounds from Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices do the sounds work? Have those sounds ever worked? ------------------------------------------ Thanks for the response. Reallocation involved the manually choosing a different sound file for each event in the Sound control panel. Every sound file plays perfectly when directly played. Also plays when the Check button is selected in the Sound panel. But, AISE, every sound event works as it should except for the start and exit ones. These do play within the Sound panel itself when selected for playing. Really baffling. Avatar ------- |
