| Missing icon I've got XP professional and IE7. My anti-virus is Avast free Home Edition. Today I noticed the icon missing from my Systems Tray. Went to Start/Programs and got the icon to my desktop. Double clicked on it and found that Avast is there all right and working. How can I get the icon into my systems tray? TIA |

| Re: Missing icon Did that, but the icon is simply not there. Even though I've got the icon on my desktop, I don't if it is active during browsing to ensure continuous protection, or is it simply there just for me to activate to do anti-virus checks. How can I get the icon into my systems tray? >>> TIA Remove "Avast!" then reinstall. If that doesn't work, malicious software is probably blocking it. Burn BitDefender, or another program listed at the link below, to a CD (using a working machine) and test the infected machine with it. BitDefender also has a Rootkit checker on the Linux Desktop; run it if you think that's the problem: http://www.techmixer.com/free-bootab...download-list/ Download the executable rather than the .iso image, if one is available.. it prompts you to insert a CD and burns the file, no problem. Then run these: Malwarebytes© Corporation http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam/program/mbam-setup.exe SuperAntispyware http://www.superantispyware.com/supe...freevspro.html -- Joe =o) |
