Strange noises downloading

XP Home SP3 on Toshiba Satellite laptop

With some downloads (not all) I get a repetitive metallic tac-tac-tac and
the system hangs. Any idea what is happening?

Thank you

Re: Strange noises downloading

I thought of that, but it works fine other than for two dowload sites.
Elsewhere I have been told that those using Firefox are having the same
problem due to bad Java script on those pages.

I am not sure what to try next.

Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html

this one downloaded fine.

these files are virus removers, in these days lots of malware prevents the
download and instalation of virus removers and anti-virus into the system
they controll...

i believe your sistem is infected, the noises you hear can be the virus
shutting down your hard drive (the heads parking can do that noise).

try to download a install an less know anti-virus
www.clamwin.com

but be carefull, this clamav can't clear infected files, only delete them,
but it wont delete any files without your "yes"
