| Recycle Bin disfunction I run Windows XP Home and after deleting files and removing them from the Recycle Bin it often retains the visible white contents image at the top of it. Then the only way to eliminate the image is to shut down and restart the system. This just started to happen in the past week. Any ideas? -- Bob |

Does pressing F5 from your desktop resolve the issue? Does a reboot resolve the issue? The correct answer may be different depending on your many drives are being monitored, how many users, etc. but for a simple configuration, I would first delete/rename the iconcache.db for the afflicted user. It is quick and easy. Find the file here: C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name Here>\Local Settings\Application Data A logon cycle or reboot is required to rebuild the iconcache.db file. I would reboot so there is no question. Attempting a System Restore to some time last week before it started happening is also an option, but has anything changed on your system in the last week that you might not want to undo with a SR? Please, report back either way. |

| RE: Recycle Bin disfunction I have done a restore at earlier points at least 3 times until I gave up and disabled system restore, then enabled it again. Now, all previous history restore points have been erased. Jose was being facetious about actually trying the SR suggestion in the reply, but it sounds like SR is behaving perfectly. I really don't see how using a RP from s week or so ago will resolve the issue of the RB icon showing full when the RB is empty, but now that you have tried it, you also know it will not resolve the issue, but I have never used SR for anything except experimentation. Did you follow the other suggestion? |
