I am using Windows XP with SP3. When loading Street Atlas USA 2009, I get a
message that say to the effect that an error occured when connecting to the
selected data and as a result expected data may be missing from the map view.
It then refers me to the error.log in the application directory for detailed
failure information (I cannot find an "application directory") I then click
OK and in am in the program. However, when I try to use the find feature it
says that the find tab not initialized. I think it is a Windows issue,
because I deleted the Street Atlas USA 2009 and installed a 2008 version and
got the same results.

Hi Johnny

The "application directory" probably means the directory that Street
Atlas is installed in, eg under:

"C:\Program Files\Delorme\Street Atlas 2009\"

Alternatively, open a Command Prompt and enter this command from C:\
root directory:

C:\>dir error.log /a /s

to locate the file (it may take a minute or two to run).

Notwithstanding that you think it's a Windows problem, you're likely to
get some useful info from the DeLorme forum. 100% of the users there are
Windows users; whereas only a tiny fraction of the general Windows users
here would be running Street Atlas! See:

Sounds like Street Atlas is trying to run with some of it's components
missing. Maybe one of your applications that you already have installed is
interfering with the install of Street Atlas. Uninstall 2008 in Control
Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Perform a "clean boot" following this proceedure:

Then reinstall 2009 again. After the install, restore the normal boot and
try Street Atlas again. If this doesn't work, it's time to call Street Atlas
and have them sort it out.
