| slow response for some unknown reason i cannot seem to bring up add or remove programes from the control panel everything else displays okay,also on turning off we get as far as windows shuting down and then it freezes,every time and are having to turn off on the tower,can anybody help please. |

Operating system edition? Service pack level? .. What changed between a time it was working fine and when it stopped working? . Installation of any new applications? . Installation of any new hardware? . Power outage? . Other people use your machine without your watchful eye? .. What happens if you do the following: . Reboot. . Log in. . Immediately (as soon as you can) click on the Start Button. . Choose "RUN" from the menu. . Type in: control appwiz.cpl . Click OK. . Wait at least 2-3 minutes before doing anything else. . Did the "Add or Remove Programs" control panel appear? .. You may need to repair some system files. In order to do this, you could... . Reboot. . Log in. . Put in your WIndows XP installation CD (not restore, not recovery...) . Immediately (as soon as you can) click on the Start Button. . Choose "RUN" from the menu. . Type in: sfc /scannow . Click OK. . Start here, then we can figure out what the issue is and fix it: Click Start, Run and in the box enter: msinfo32 Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select All, Copy and then paste back here. There would be some personal information (like System Name and User Name) or whatever appears to be only your business that you can delete from the paste. Reduce the chances of malicious software by running some scans. Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs: Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/ SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/ These can be uninstalled later if desired. |
