| sporadic issues using IE7 browser One day ago I started having problems navigating between web pages. I have XP home, 2GB Ram , inel pentium 2.2 ghz. I havehad this laptop for 2 years without any issues with internet. Yesteday I noticed that I can open my home page with no problem. However , if I select another web page to go to , either by clicking a URL or by typing in the address, I get "invalid address" or "web page cannot be displayed". The laptop is connected wifelesly thru a router. However, the intertnet connection status saus "excellent" and If I go to my desktop 10 ft. away it can acess web pages immediately without any issues. Finally, if I do a restart on the laptop it can then get the home page plus go to other web pages without a problem. Except after a few hours the same problem pops up. Has anyone run across something like this or have an idea on how to correct it? I am using Zone alarm extrem security on both pc's and no indicatopn of any virus. Thanks. |

Thanks. Go through these Cleaning steps: 1... Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window you will see these Options: General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs | Advanced . Click on General Tab (1st Tab on the left) and you will see a Button called [ Clear History ..] click on it to clear your History caches, then click on [Delete Files..] to delete Internet Files created over the time, click on [ Delete Cookies...] to delete your cookies left by visiting websites. Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option: [&] Browsing [ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box. = Then try to Disable the Add-Ons on your Browser somehow installed on your browser, On how to disable the Add-ons follow this: Click on Programs Tab and then click the Manage Add-Ons Button there Disable the Non/Not Verified Plug-ins/Add-ons ( you need to Renable them one-by-one later and see which is the culprit . How to manage Add-Ons: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883256 Scan for malware from here: SuperAntispyware - Free http://www.superantispyware.com/supe...freevspro.html Run a scan from here on-line: http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/d...d=ie&venid=sym http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Run disk clean up then Open the run command by doing this: Click Start >> Run >> Type in the text box: ipconfig /flushdns click [OK] ipconfig /renew click [OK] netsh winsock reset click [OK] Reboot your machine, does it help? Just curious, does the PC/Desktop wired to the router? Also, I found in the past clearing the Hotspot wifi SSIDs ( the unwanted one) from the wireless properties window under Wireless Networks Tab can solve the inconsistent connection. If it wired I suggest to reboot the Router by doing this: * Turn the Modem/Router OFF for a while ( 60Secs or so) and the PC/Laptop at the same time. Then Boot up/Power On the Modem/Router and wait for 60secs and then Power up the PC/Laptop and see if the connection will hold. HTH nass --- http://www.nasstec.co.uk |
