You have to set up a news account. Take a look here for more info. Courtesy of Michael Stevens, MS-MVP Setting up Outlook Express Newsreader http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/ou...snewreader.htm Courtesy of Microsoft Windows XP Newsgroup Setup Instructions for Outlook Express http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...roupsetup.mspx If you want to use the Microsoft news server, click on this link. news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...dowsxp.general That will take you to this newsgroup. Now to access other newsgroups, go to the Tools menu at the top of your Outlook Express window. Select Newsgroups from the menu. Hit the "Reset list" button. You can now search for other newsgroups on the MS server. Good luck Nepatsfan |

Chas If you right click on his message and select Properties from the menu, you'll see on the General tab discussions.microsoft.com after the @ sign. Click on the Details tab and you'll see X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000. Both of these indicate that he's posting from this web site. | Re: outlook express news Right click the shortcut you're using to open Outlook Express. On the Shortcut tab, look in the Target box. It should say something similar to this, "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" If the /mailonly switch has been added to this line, remove it. If that isn't the problem you might want to post your question to the Outlook Express newsgroup. Discussions in Outlook Express 6 General http://www.microsoft.com/communities...&lang=en&cr=US Meanwhile, until you get this problem resolved you might want to consider using another newsreader such as Thunderbird. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/ Good luck Nepatsfan In news:17DDB62E-16C9-41BE-9AD7-2CD8D5F7E7E0@microsoft.com, Chas <Chas@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > This is what i am trying to tell you guys, done this ..
