| Computer cuts off after putting in standby mode This just started happening, when I put the computer in standby mode at the end of the day, the next morning when I go to use it, as soon as I touch the mouse it cuts off. I then have to cut it on with the switch on front of the CPU, what gives? Thanks for any help. |

| Re: Computer cuts off after putting in standby mode Don't use standby/hibernate. It slows your computer by taking up system resources all day long. Just shut down instead, and turn hibernation off. What does "cut it on with the switch" mean.? What's the history of this issue? Did things ever work right? What changed between the time it worked and when it didn't? Just because the system is set to go into hibernation or standby after a period of time, doesn't affect how it runs when not in those modes. -- Rock [MVP - User/Shell] |

This problem just started out of the blue, nothing was done to the system prior to this happening. I did not change any settings in the "Power Options" menu either. |

But you haven't answered the questions. What you mean by "it cuts off" when I touch the mouse? What does "cut it on with the switch" mean? Did you review that link on how to make a good newsgroup post? You might consider contacting a competent local computer repair person to take a look at the machine. -- Rock [MVP - User/Shell] |
