| .REG files won't install When I click on a .reg file, e.g., xp_shellstate.reg, it doesn't install. Instead, it opens in Notepad. What is the problem? I've checked what this .reg file does and the Registry is not changed by it. Thank you. John Wirt |

Go to Folder Options in the control panel and select the File Types tab. Find "REG" extension and highlight, click the Change button and select the Registry Editor or browse to select "%windir%/regedit.exe". -- William -------------------------------------------------------------- "Dave Patrick" wrote: > The default action has been changed to 'Edit' You can right-click and choose > 'Merge' > > -- > > Regards, > > Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. > Microsoft Certified Professional > Microsoft MVP [Windows] > http://www.microsoft.com/protect > > "JW" wrote: > > When I click on a .reg file, e.g., xp_shellstate.reg, it doesn't install. > > Instead, it opens in Notepad.
