System crashed and BSOD with the error message 0x0000007e shows even when
trying to boot in safe mode.

Tried the installation CD but the BSOD shows before loading Windows with the
pci.sys-address f853e0bf base at f8537000, datestamp 3c0bfadb error.

How can I repair this problem?

Well, you need to start in safe Mode and look in the Device Manager for any
conflict with the PCI adapter.
You may have add a PCI or another hardware that conflicting or not
compatible with windows also the motherboard not powering the device.
Uinstall and reinstall the PCI adapter and get the updates for it.
At which SP your system is updated to?.
Any hardware added recently to your computer?.

Computer won't start in safe mode. No new hardware added.

Removed Sound Blaster card & unplugged CD ROMS, remaining items in system are
the PCI express video card and SATA HD, still no luck in booting in safe mode.


This system has all the Windows updates as of yesterday.

Then try to copy it to this path:
C:\Windows|System32\drivers
By starting the Recovery Console by doing the following:

1. Start the Recovery Console.
2. Select the installation you wish to access.
3. Type the administrator password (usually blank).
4. Type MAP to determine the drive letter assigned to the CD-ROM.
5. Type Expand D:\i386\pci.sy_ c:\Windows\System32\drivers
6. Type exit.

Thank you for all your help, but I am unable to reach the recovery console,
the BSOD shows when the recovery CD is ready to load windows.

Do you think that it may be the hard drive?

Yes, it could be try to run the Diagnostic tools from the Manufacturer (of
your HDD) site and see if the HDD healthy or not!.
Also check your RAM it could be part of it too.
