SMTP Virtual Server in IIS V5.1

When I installed IIS in my computer I was adviced, for reasons of security,
to do something I don't remember what. What I know is that, when I see the
listing of the services of the Internet Information Services, the SMTP
Virtual Server icon has a red croos over it since that time. I want to undo
this situation. I tried. I think that the advice was on a knowledge base
item. But I can't locate it. Who can help?

I'd do a system restore back to a time before you installed IIS and start
over - and be very careful to document everything you do, including keeping
track of KB articles.

It might be worthwhile to thank the person who offered some help rather than
snapping back, don't you think? This is a peer to peer newsgroup. Everyone
who posts here is a volunteer. You are not entitled to any responses, let
alone something that fits _your_ definition of proper. By doing what you
did, you might have encouraged others who might otherwise have posted a
solution to not bother. Think about it.

Wow, way to make new friends, dude.If this happened two years ago, why are
you posting now? Remember that this is a public newsgroup, and an air of
entitlement will not aid you in your quest for free technical support from
complete strangers who are volunteering their time to attempt to help
others. Of course, if you don't truly wish to get free technical support as
described above, I suggest that you start doing regular backups and keeping
track of everything you do, so that you do not require it in the future.
Best of luck in your future endeavors.

I also have participated in the newsgroup of SQL Server 2005 and the people
there really helps without reproaching. if I don't know a good answer and I
really want to help, I say to other people who can, to do that. And that's
what happened. The problem was solved in the first level. But people didn't
reproach, people really tried to help. Is this really hard to understand?

Where specifically was the reproach in my original reply? I made a valid
suggestion, and made no personal comments. You might want to develop a
slightly thicker skin when posting in usenet.

The ball is at your side. Play it, if you can.
