xp services conflict

Without going into too much detail I have two services running that, through
trial and error in msconfig, I've concluded interfere with each other at
shutdown and give an error code at shutdown. I'm just a novice computer user
but I know there should be some method to determine the specifics of the
conflict. Any help would be appreciated.

for help you will have to tell us what the services are and the *exact*
wording of the error message

Re: xp services conflict

Error message at shutdown is : "The instructiion at 0x0012e619 referenced
memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written." Services are two
non-Microsoft services: 1) Maxtor Sync Service found in C:\program
files\maxtor\sync\syncservices.exe; and 2) Tropic Designs: Weather Pulse
update permissions manager.29862 found in C:\program files\weather
pulse\tdclient.exe......By disabling either (or both) service(s) the error
goes away. My apologies if I'm not supposed to mention specific product
names in this forum. I'm hoping that someone can at least help me in a
general way to resolve service conflicts.

It's fine to mention specific software, that's the only way to get the
proper help.

Do you need Maxtor sync?

Do you need Tropic Designs?

If one of those apps is not needed, just uninstall it
(or take one out of startup)

If they are essential to how you use your machine...
check to see if they have any updates and apply them
