Start > Run > eventvwr [click OK]

Select the System log.

Look for event 6009 (there is a Find function in the View menu). This
event, which is described as "Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 5.01. 2600
Service Pack 3 Uniprocessor Free" is the system starting up. The
following event, 6005, is the EventLog service starting up, which is the
beginning of the boot-up sequence.

Events 6005, 6006, 6008, 6009

In addition to the other methods already provided, you can click Start

system has been "up," since it's last reboot.

That's not natively available on XP Home, although the OP didn't state what
version he was running.

Open windows explorer.
Select the "C:" drive.
Right click the boot.ini file.
Select properties.
Read the last access date and time.
