system locks up on RDC connection

A system I try to connect to locks up and has to be power cycled when
the connection is first made.
It's a new system, XP SP3. I can connect to other systems. I tried
isolating this system on a different router with just my laptop to try
connecting to it. I get the logon box, enter the password, and on the
control end the display stops there. The system being controlled is
frozen. No mouse movement or anything. The user put Norton Internet
Security 2009 on it. I even tried uninstalling that, though it may
have left registry settings altered, I don't know. Nothing in the
system logs to give a clue, or in Norton logs when it's running.

Thanks

Uninstall all Norton and Symantec "LiveUpdate" from Add/Remove Program
BEFORE running the removal tool. Norton "on-line" support agent ran
the NRT and screwed up my system for over one month.

Tried the Norton uninstall util. It didn't make any difference. I will
just have to assume somehow windows got scrambled and a re-install is
the answer.
