Image Aquisition problem

I've tried a few newsgroups, to no avail, to assist with this problem : My
D: drive will not burn or copy anything to my cd-rom (D: drive) Enable
recording is checked, all is fine on that end of things. Where my problem
lies is in "Services". It appears that when I check on services (Run:
services.msc) the IMAPI service is missing and I cannot for the life of me
get it going again.

I ran a search for Imapi, and found a few .exe's and dat files with the
Imapi name in the System 32 folder. Double-clicking on the Imapi exe files
did nothing. So it seems the apps are present in the system, but I can't
get the Imapi service to start. There's 7billion of us on this planet,
surely someone else out there can enlighten me.

many thanx
