| can't install apps -- "another install is currently in progress" Hello I'm trying up upgrade Office software, but it fails due to "another install is currently in progress". I don't know of any other software installations in progress. How can I find out what this is and correct it? Thanks in advance -- Dave |

| Re: can't install apps -- "another install is currently in progress" This is probably to do with the fact you had started the installation process and then terminated it. It then left part of it's 'setup.exe' still in memory. Try rebooting and start the installation again. And, after the installation has started - go through with it - don't stop it for any reason, like it was started by cd-rom autorun and you weren't ready for it. == Cheers, Tim Meddick, Peckham, London. :-) "Dave" <Dave@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5960FE48-DCE2-4A6D-8ED6-28F6E73F9250@microsoft.com... > Hello > > I'm trying up upgrade Office software, but it fails due to "another > install > is currently in progress". > > I don't know of any other software installations in progress. You receive an "Another installation is in progress" error message when you try to install Office or start an office program http://support.microsoft.com/kb/236456 |

If there is a leftover one running, a second copy will generally not run (restrictions apply) hence the message. If you are not installing at the moment, kill any msiexec.exe that is running and try the installation again. |
