Blue border down left hand side of screen

I reset the start menu from classic and then for some reason a 3" wide
vertical line came up on the left hand side of the screen permanantly with
the folder tasks, other places and details boxes on it, the sames as in a
normal window explorer box but without any of the other parts. I have tried
everything I can thin kof but to no avail, any ideas of how to get rid of it?

Perhaps you mean the Common Tasks Bar. If so, to get rid of it, go to Doug
Knox's site, http://www.dougknox.com. On the left, click Win XP Fixes, then
Remove Common Tasks from Desktop.
