in "my network places" but they are not for some reason. the UPnP support is
enabled on theose devices and i know windows is setup to discover them. i am
having this issue on 2 of 3 of my PCs. this issue just started a day or two
and i have no idea of how to fix it. please help.

Have you made any changes to your computers around the time this started
happening (ie, give or take a week)?

Given the rather broad cross-section of newsgroups you're asking (and to
some degree off-topic on some of them), and the vagueness of the question
being asked, you might consider reading the website below on how to ask a
smart question that will get good answers (as opposed to a bad question
with confused answers)...

Re: UPnP device issues

Letting Windows update itself is
the same as making changes to your PC's
configuration.

MAJOR changes. Often without you knowing
about them.

One of the Windows Updates is very likely
causing the problem.

Use System Restore to go back a week or so
and see if your problem is fixed.

Re: UPnP device issues

i only let them download automaticly. i do not let them install automaticly.
sorry, but i can not restore that far back. i do not have restore points
going way back when. even if i could, it would be bad for my PC
configuration because of how i manage my PC.

do you have any other ideas that do not include restore points?

Re: UPnP device issues

Only this:

try to figure out the order that the most
recent updates were installed (by date) and
uninstall them one at a time, most recent first,
rebooting & testing between each, and see
when or if your issue is resolved.

BTW, IE7 has been known to cause network
connectivity problems. If you have that, dump
it too.
