svchost.exe

svchost.exe started the defragmentation of my hard disk, so I stopped
it right away. How can I launch it again? Thanks.

Hopefully you mean you did a defragmentation (not fragmentation) just a few
hours ago. Ok and so?

Defragmentation doesn't run under svchost.exe.

There are several ways. Here is one:

Double click My Computer, right click on the hard drive, click Properties |
Tools | Defragmentation.

For more info and other useful tips on XP functions become familiar with
XP's Help and Support. From Start | Help and Support, search on defragment
for more info.

Yes, defragmentation. I thought it could be a malware program giving
the appearance that it's doing a defrag whereas it's doing something
else.
