| Game runs in administrator account, not in user account I installed a game on one of our Windows XP PC's. It runs properly in the Administrator account, albeit somewhat sluggishly. However, when I try to run it in the user account the screen goes blank, a message pops stating "Unable to write to C:\WINDOWS\Kyou.ini, and the game hangs. A new window states that preferences are being loaded. This never completes. Task Manager shows two instances of the game "Running." I close both and get the desktop back. I loaded this game on a different Windows XP PC. It runs fine (and faster) in both accounts. Can someone please explain what is going on to me? Is there anything I can do? We have an OEM version of XP installed. Could this problem be OEM-related? |

| RE: Game runs in administrator account, not in user account Only the administrator, power users or the system accounts can write to c:\windows\* You should use "RunAs" to run the program with administrator credentials while on a limited account. Check this articles for a solution: Create a shortcut using the runas command http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true Runas: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d....mspx?mfr=true To create a shortcut using the runas command http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d....mspx?mfr=true good luck -- "There are no shortcuts to a job well done" "sleeplessinnewjersey" wrote: > I installed a game on one of our Windows XP PC's.
