| PC hangs in IE and has shut down Hi, My PC (WXP) was working fine, then I switched it on and I couldn't receive email because it couldn't find the POP server (and it also couldn't update you anti-virus and anti-spyware). IE opened but 'page not found'. The wireless broadband was working as I could reach the routers site. I then noticed an MS download waiting for me which upgraded IE. Downloaded and installed. Re-booted and email, updates now fine (!). However, IE opens partially and hangs. I can't close it and anything else (drop down menus etc) remain open using up 100% CPU resource. Even Ctrl+Alt+Del hangs and the only way out is Start-turn off. Then while using it (IE closed) the PC just switched itself off! Does this sound like a virus or is my PC on it's way out do you think? Any ideas appreciated. Andy. |
