| Backup outlook express messagges & contacts I expected the window backup facilty to backup the outlook express folders and contacts. Having done this I can not find the DBX files to reinstate. I am at the point where I am putting this down as a frustrating lesson learnt but as a last resort can anyone confirm that the windows backup facility, when used for backing up files and settings, will not backup the outlook express folders and contact? If it does where is it hidden? many thanks |

| RE: Backup outlook express messagges & contacts Made some headway since first post. I have found that the windows backup facility does include outlook folders and addresses - they are just well concealed. I have now got the dbx files and backed them up but i am struggling to get them recognised by the outlook express i have reinstalled. Instead i used a free trial program "DBXtriever" to recover the important info and saved them to my documents. The address book was a little harder as it is hidden under the backup file. I traced it, backed it up and cut & pasted it into the correct location on my computer and its all back in place. Still wouldn't mind finding out how to get outlook to recgonise the old DBX files. First glance it should be easy but in practice doesn't seem to happen. "woof!" wrote: > I expected the window backup facilty to backup the outlook express folders > and contacts.
