| East Asian Language Support I'm unable to add East Asian language support (for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages), because it seems like my Windows XP disc doesn't have the needed file(s). More detailed info: I have tried re-installing Windows XP SP2, but during the installation, I see the option "Install files for East Asian languages" disabled (greyed). I have also tried to add the East Asian language support after the Windows installation from "Control Panel" -> "Regional and Language Options" -> "Languages" -> "Install files for East Asian Languages", but Windows tells me: "Files Needed" "Some files on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD are needed." "Insert Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD into the drive selected below, and then click OK." "Copy files from:" "D:\i386\lang" "Browse..." And if I try another location I found, which is D:\OS\FIN\I386\LANG Windows tells me: "Files Needed" "Some files on Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM are needed." "Insert Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM into the drive selected below, and then click OK." "Copy files from:" "D:\OS\FIN\I386\LANG" "Browse..." And if I click "OK", nothing gets installed. I have Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L7310GW (with Intel Celeron M 370 1.5 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 60 MB hard disc). I'm using the "Fujitsu Siemens Product Recovery DVD: Windows XP Home Edition-SP2: Multilanguage" (FSP:RDVDWXPHMUL01310600649118, CRC:F24A1294) disc. |

| Re: East Asian Language Support I'm not talking about language interfaces for East Asian languages, I'm talking about language support i.e. how to see documents that use East Asian languages. I was able to install support for the Asian languages, but confronted a problem. Here's what happened: I copied the I386 directory from the Windows XP SP2 disc (D:\I386) to my hard drive (C:\I386), and gave that directory when Windows asked me where the Asian support file(s) are, but then I saw this notification: "Windows File Protection" "Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files." "Insert your Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM now." "Retry" "More Information" "Cancel" Should I be worried about the safety of my computer? Does the possible instability cause my computer to be more vulnerable to viruses and network attacks? Will my files get corrupted, etc.? |
