| How do I remove a GPT Protective Partition from a hard drive? The hard drive is question is a blank drive out of a 2003 server. I have repurposed this drive to go into a windows XP Pro sp2 box that needs the space. I can not remove this partition in windows XP nor windows 2003 server. How the heck do I wipe this drive so I can set it up as a basic disk with ntfs? |

Anyway: dban.sourceforge.net This utility, however cannot (as of the last revision) wipe the Host Protected area. Since there is rarely anything there.... it's not a big issue. This utility does have the capability of reverting the drive to the factory configuration. http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/ |

Grab Knoppix from http://www.knoppix.net/ (it's free). Open a Konsole and type sudo -s to get root. Type cfdisk /dev/hda to repartition the first hard drive on the first PATA channel. If this is not the correct device, you'll need to change /dev/hda to the appropriate device; see http://www.debian.org/releases/stabl...apbs04.html.en |
