Can't empty recycle bin

Keep getting error message:

"The instruction at 0x7c91a7ff referenced memory at 0x78e5c973. Memory
could not be read." I've searched Microsoft Knowledge Base but came up
empty. Anyone have any ideas? This is for a friend who is on XP.

Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: Can't empty recycle bin

Try run, type:cmd In cmd type:CLEANMGR /SAGESET Chk all the boxes in the
new window, make sure "empty recycle bin" is checked, once thru click ok,type:
CLEANMGR /SAGERUN All that was checked gets ran as needed...As far as the
original problem, open event viewer & get details, you might also try running
in
cmd Sfc /Scannow You'll need the xp cd to run this (retail copy)...

Re: Can't empty recycle bin

See if this fixes the problem...

How to Repair the WinXP Recycle Bin

1. Open the Run box and enter: cmd

2. In the command window, type:
attrib -s -h recycler <ENTER>
then
rd /s c:\recycled <ENTER>

3. Download Doug Knox's recycbin-2.reg file:
Info: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/rec_bin.htm
Download: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts/recycbin-2.reg

4. Double-click it or right-click and merge it into the registry.

5. Restart your computer.

For what it's worth I use Eraser http://www.heidi.ie/node/6
instead of the delete recycle bin, and it's free.

I have no connection with them except for using Eraser.
